Diet Analysis
According to the three days I tracked my diet, I am not as unhealthy as I thought. I eat enough meat, vegetables and grains to meet the daily recommended requirements. I seem to be getting enough protein and my fat intake is appropriate at around 30% of my diet. My cholesterol intake is also about average. I noticed that by day 3, I was eating more fruit, but that may have been to appear healthier after seeing my previous two days diet. I am going to make a point to eat a piece of fruit with or after every meal, and as a snack instead of cookies.I learned from the tracking that I do need to to eat more fruit and find a way to ingest more dairy. I put skim milk in my coffee and have cheese once in awhile but not enough. My sodium was a little high on day 2, mostly because I had two Cokes. I do not normally drink two Cokes in one day, but I need to be more aware of what I am drinking and drink more water. I sometimes forget that beverages count towards my diet, including coffee and Cok e. With school and work, my schedule varies. Some days I am able to eat three healthy meals a day while other days I eat on the run, or sometimes even skip meals.I do not like to eat fast food more than once a week, and I will try to continue with that. I try to exercise a few times a week, but just like meals, sometimes that is not possible. When I do exercise I try to make up for the days I miss and spend extra time on the treadmill. I am pleased that my cholesterol intake is normal and would like to keep that amount in my diet, or possibly lower it. Eating meat helps make me feel full, so I do not think cutting out meat is an option in my diet, but I could decrease my use of butter and other fats.I will start paying more attention to the amount of sodium I take in; luckily I do not eat many pre-packaged foods, so most of my sodium only comes from beverages like soda. It would be hard to give up Coke all together, but maybe I can find another sweet drink that is lower in sodium to have when I eat popcorn. I am going to start carrying a water bottle, so I will be hydrated and perhaps not feel like I need something else to drink. I do know I am not able to cut out coffee while I am in school.

A passion for practicing medicine in Developing Country
A life with purpose is a life without misery. While yet many choose purpose out of a mere likeness, I have chosen mine out of interest, vision and passion. To live beyond a committed life in the world of medicine is my focal point. Yes, an opportunity to live a noble future that reflects constantly on the healing assignment, making people appreciate the privilege of breath.Of more interest of course, is the agendum to study medicine.A worthwhile career to contribute to life, making the world a better place to live. Health is wealth, so says a common saying. The study of health hence is the study of wealth. I am quite positive that my interest dwells in the study of medicine not only for a mere need to able to treat the ill ones, but a mission to spread the awareness of the need of good living and good health to all and sundry.Awareness that many of human ways bring about many diseases. Very few is aware that there are many more lethal diseases than AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Sy ndrome).Diseases like Bird flu, Cancer, Leukemia, SARS, to mention but few, are relatively unaddressed by many.Another issue that needs attention is the nutritional intake of human. Good nutrient does not only strengthen the body system, it also allows the body to resist some diseases. In the developed world, many eat and overfeed yet without taking the necessary nutrient. While in the developing countries, the case is more severe. The reason is not unconnected to the fact that they have shortage of food, hence shortage of nutrient necessary for good health. If only there could be more seminars, campaigns, and other media of awareness creation, many could have been saved from many diseases.I will like to join the presently available campaign teams across the world. Bodies like WHO (World Health Organization), USAID and lot more are doing a great job in sensitizing the entire globe on several health issues. Better still, if given all I require, I will like to create a new body that wi ll focus on the developing countries. The Old and the young in the developing countries go through so much concerning their health.Unaware of repercussions of many of their ways, hence leading to many diseases. They are locked up in a vicious circle of ill-health simply because of their poverty which does not afford them good health care. Countries like Somalia, Angola, Nigeria, to mention only but few among others, they need face lift in their attitudes towards their health schemes. Many children die of malaria or typhoid and yet many crippled by polio. These are diseases that could be cured or prevented with just a vaccination or some other simple drugs as the case may be.Of more focus is the old, weak and fragile both physically and emotionally. They suffer dissertation and low appetite. Their psychological status is assumed defective; they feel an aura of rejection. The chewing skill is increased but without enhancement, for their teeth become weak like cotton.Of more concern to me are the aged ones in the developing country, where the government of the masses cares less for the aged ones. Retired with little or no pension, living a practical vicious circle of no income, no health. I wish I could grow up in skill and knowledge in medicine vastly to help these people crying out everyday. For long, I have watched mentors making things happen in the world of health; it is high time I joined the train and contributed my own quota, lest it will be late.
Assessment Analysis Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Assessment Analysis - Assignment Example The assignment is formative because it is used in the learning process by a teacher to ascertain the student level and therefore direct learning objectives. For example, the question requires a certain element of comprehension of the student and answering them gives the teacher an impression of the status of the student and therefore affect the next instructional period. It is also formal because of the controlled environment and the content. It gives the impression of a standard school test, because it can be administered to many students depending on their level and age. Comprehension exercises typically evaluate the cognitive abilities of the students such as retention and ability to follow instructions, unlike psychomotor evaluations that evaluate the body coordination of students and often involve an aspect of physical exercise. Comprehensions do not evaluate content because they do not ask questions about anything other than what can be answered from the story. The type of questions used is open ended because there is no structure or relevance of defending a point. However, the last part, the part about the body parts used in hunting, is an essay tailored to the relative young age of the students for which the assignment is designed. The assignment lies in the application level of Blooms Taxonomy. Students are merely supposed to apply the content of the comprehension to derive the answers (Stanley& Moore, 2013). Advanced levels are often inapplicable in comprehension questions at this level. From the structure of the questions, they were administered to a whole class, though it is impossible to determine the time allocated. Students have a choice in their answers because the questions are open ended. The assignment contains five parts, coloring the stars each time the student reads the comprehension, coloring the required areas and answering one question. Based on these

Business and Social Approaches to Social Media - Opportunities and Essay
Business and Social Approaches to Social Media - Opportunities and Issues - Essay Example Through social media, companies do not have any limit for entry, and there is excellent communication between customers and promoters (Hamill, 1997). Companies using the social media find it easy to penetrate the market, to find information that helps them change their products to meet the customers demand, and also reduces the cost on advertisement. In overall, the company is able to improve its performance as a result of the feedback got from the consumers of its product (Denis et al., 2002). Social networking sites are websites whose accounts are profile based. They are often known as Web 2.0 (Oââ¬â¢Reilly, 2005). People are able to form relationships through chartrooms, instant messaging, newsfeed and blogging. Some of the communicating avenues or social network sites used today include; facebook.com, Myspace.com used by people who share the same taste in music and friendster.com used to connect people looking for love partners (Ellison, et al., 2007). In this discussion, we s hall elaborate more on the use of facebook as a social network, and how it has helped companies such as Coca Cola, IKEA to advertise its products leading to an increase in sales and profit maximization. ESSAY Facebook is a social networking means that has made it possible for people with same ideals and values to connect. Originally facebook was introduced to help students connect with each other after school (Ellison et al., 2007). However, today facebook is also used for marketing companiesââ¬â¢ products, introducing new ideas, and an avenue to collect data or for advertising purposes. Being a socially appreciated form of networking, facebook has helped to improve the public relation of companies with its consumers, has helped to identify marketing gaps and also to identify consumers tastes and preferences. Facebook has bridged the gap of space and time in business. This has been done through creating of groups, which allows members to ââ¬Ëlikeââ¬â¢ the goods and services provided by keeping them informed with the latest information. This has also been done through the creation of facebook pages or use of celebrities in the advertisements. Other than companies using the media for advertising, organizations have also been able to gather information leading to a shift of how they get to collect information; information does not only flow from up to bottom but from down to the bottom. This has therefore, shifted the focus of organizations to providing what the consumers desire. It has not just changed organizations and companiesââ¬â¢ methods of advertising, but has also led to an increase of companiesââ¬â¢ productivity and revenue as well as reducing costs. In addition, the social network; facebook have helped in detecting criminals. Police in Canada and the U.S. have directed certain videos and requested the public to try and indentify them. The videos were initially on YouTube, but to make communication faster it was uploaded in facebook. This did not only help the police men to get to arrest the criminals but also helped the businesses to get to indentify the criminals incase they just dropped on their doorsteps. Facebook can therefore, be used as a means for protection and for boosting security around our places. However, the success of a company that uses facebook to advertise depends on how well they design their web. A

Assignment - Intervention and Assistive Technology
- Intervention and Assistive Technology - Assignment Example In years past, however, it often took a great deal of time before a child was tested for disabilities, and then even more time to properly diagnose the disability and create an individual education plan designed to help the student get back on track academically and socially. This is time wasted that can never be claim. In addition, students are all to often incorrectly diagnosed as having a disability, creating a stigma that is long lasting and causing academic and social difficulties for the student. Response to Intervention (RTI) is that methodology that seeks to solve this issue. The aim of RTI is to provide testing and services to students with disabilities as quickly as possible in an effort to get valuable rehabilitation services set in motion. This paper seeks to explain the process and its importance on the field of education, particularly in the area of special education. Summary of Response to Intervention In essence, response to intervention (RTI) is ââ¬Å"a multilayered system that can prevent academic and social failure before a student is unnecessarily or prematurely identified as having a disabilityâ⬠ (Beard, Carpenter, & Johnston, 2011, p. 28). Children today suffer from enough pressure that educators should be cautious about adding to that. Often times, young people have difficulty learning, but they cannot express what they are feeling. While it is important, as professional educators, to intervene and strive to provide any assistance necessary, it is equally important that the child not feel singled out and threatened. Response to Intervention is designed to improve the process by which students with disabilities are tested, diagnosed, and educated. Simply put, RTI is designed to provide needed assistance to students who are having difficulty learning. Response to Intervention is a methodology that dictates this intervention is to be provided as early as possible and in a systematic manner. The goal is to provide help to students that will enable them to succeed academically, rather than failing because certain learning disabilities go undiagnosed. This is accomplished not only through early intervention, but also through frequent progress updates, and by providing researching-based interventions that are meant to help children who continue to experience difficulty learning. In the early days of diagnosing learning disabilities, the focus was on comparing IQ test scores with academic achievement. If there were a discrepancy noted, then children would be further tested to determine if they have some special needs that needed to be accommodated. The problem with this method was that it could take years to let this strategy run its course, during which time the child would likely continue to fail academically and become increasingly frustrated. In order to shorten the time required to intervene and provide children with much needed assistance, RTI was developed in an effort to quickly locate a specific learning disa bility much more quickly than the previous model allowed for. In addition, RTI fits well within the parameters of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004. Educators must be careful, however, when using RTI to ensure that they are truly identifying students who have learning disabilities, and not simply labeling children as such because they are low achievers. The two are not necessarily related, and improperly

International business practice - Essay Example The force of this chronological approach, chiefly, in its enveloping financial dimensions, incessantly disseminate and intensify the inter-reliance attributes that associate communities, financial systems, and regions. It is not possible to locate any nation which is devoid of the cross-boundary flows of business, investment, citizenry, ideologies, and icons (Sumida, 2004). Media and Semiotics Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words
Media and Semiotics - Essay Example The product ââ¬ËDNAgeââ¬â¢ actually represents how easily the intended audience would connect with the advertisement and allow them to try this product once at least. The signs, symbols and other facets ââ¬â all of which comprise the semiotics of the advertisement remain very pertinent when one tries to comprehend how the advertisement will talk to the correct people ââ¬â the ageing women and how it is asking them to try the product at least once. The semiotics of this advertisement therefore depict the manner under which women will feel inclined to try it on their own selves once and if they find that the product works in their favor, then they will keep on trying the product again and again. This paper finds a semiotic link with the advertisement that connects with its intended audience. The different metaphors that are being employed and the way in which communication is being done have been highlighted during the length of this paper. First of all, this advertisemen t needs an analysis and this can only be done when there is an understanding that DNAge is being targeted as a product which will take care of the ageing phenomenon within the women. The claim is such that it starts working when skin begins to age and the concentration lies in the DNA of the human being. Now this is something essential to comprehend because the DNA of the person is particular and cannot be replicated in some other being. The advertisement shows a female who must be in her high 40s. She depicts a very presentable personality and thus her facial expressions represent success in life that she has achieved over a period of time. She is apparently happy that she has been able to turn back time in her favor. The copy within the advertisement is also very crisp and represents the message which DNAge is willing to give to the intended target audiences. The copy has a definitive platform upon which the entire wordings have been devised, thus giving a very direct and appealin g message to the audience. The ones who go through this advertisement will find that the copy is very feministic in its approach since it discusses the feminine side of the ageing phenomenon. The copy therefore is a perfect fit for such a kind of an advertisement as it showcases the true spirit of an anti-ageing advertisement (Amujo, 2010). The readers of this copy will find that they are glued to the wordings that have been used and the sub-caption which says ââ¬Å"works where skin ageing starts: at the DNAâ⬠. The usage of claims like ââ¬Ë86% firmer skinââ¬â¢ and ââ¬Ë82% less wrinklesââ¬â¢ is actually seen as a plus point for the copy that is being sent across this advertisement. It gives a sort of scientific approach to this advertisement which is all the more significant. The renewal of cells that are taking place within a human body is similarly a claim that DNAge is making and which is easily comprehensible by the women who would use it once they are able to b uy it off the rack (Greenland, 2003). The word ââ¬ËNewââ¬â¢ on the top of the advertisement and just beneath the caption suggests that DNAge is a product that has either changed itself completely or has come up with a new formula to defeat anti-ageing. The semiotic analysis therefore depends a great deal not only on the visual but also the copy that comes along with it in the advertisement. An argument that can be made here regarding this advertisement

Auditing Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 2
Auditing - Essay Example Assurance service is an independent professional service, typically provided by CPAs, with the goal of improving the information or the context of the information so that decision makers can make more informed, and presumably better decisions. Attestation services are consultations that evaluate the reliability of written statements that are another partyââ¬â¢s responsibility. Audits can be considered a type of assurance service but are only designed to test the validity of the financial statements. Recent economic issues drive increased demand for assurance services. The banking and finance industry fiasco of recent years has made these services indispensible in todayââ¬â¢s market. There are differences between assurance engagements and attestation engagements other than audits and financial statements. One attestation is that of an entityââ¬â¢s compliance with requirements of specified laws, regulations, rules, contracts, or grants. A type of assurance engagement is that o f a comfort letter prepared to assure the recipient of the financial soundness company. The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) have positioned the auditing professions to become "assurance professions." Here, we explored the difference between assurance services, attestation services and auditing services. Furthermore, we discussed economic issues that drive increased demand for assurance services. We also identified one assurance engagement and one attestation engagement other than an audit of financial statements and the differences between them. The ten Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS) provide the foundation for all other auditing standards and interpretations. Here, we define the standard of "due professional care" and how a court might decide whether an audit firm met the standard. We also discuss why independence is often considered the

How does a fi rms tax rate affect its cost of capital What is the Essay
How does a fi rms tax rate affect its cost of capital What is the effect of the flotation - Essay Example The cost of capital can be calculated using valuation models such as CAPM or Arbitrage Pricing Model. Like all affairs of a business, the cost of capital is also affected by numerous factors, some within and some beyond the organizationââ¬â¢s control. One of the factors which greatly affects the cost of capital and is beyond the control of the organization is the tax rate. Tax rate refers to the percentage of earning/spending which is contributed to the government. There are several types of taxes, applicable on different economic units, such as the income tax applicable on individuals, corporate tax applicable on corporations, sales tax applicable to sellers etc. Of primary concern in an organization are the corporate tax rate and the capital gains tax. The corporate tax rate is used to calculate the cost of debt in the weighted average cost of capital. The higher the tax rate; the lower will be the cost of capital since the interest payments are tax deductible. The capital gains tax, on the other hand, is applicable to owners of capital in the organizations, i.e. the shareholde rs. An appreciation in the ownership of share prices requires the shareholders to pay a specific percentage (varies from country to country) to the government. In such a case, the higher the capital gains tax, the lower will be the motivation of shareholders to hold their stocks. The tax rate structure applicable in a country determines the capital structure of a firm. If the corporate tax rate is higher than the capital gains tax rate then the structure will comprise of more debt and less shares and vice versa. In case an organization does not directly take a loan from a bank or financial institution, it may issue securities. Securities refer to any instruments (negotiable or non-negotiable) which allows an organization to raise funds, while floatation costs refer to the expenses incurred by the organization to issue new securities. These include underwritersââ¬â¢
Human Resource Learning Team Weekly Reflection Essay
Human Resource Learning Team Weekly Reflection - Essay Example The job analysis is done to identify the minimum requirements in terms of qualifications tat a worker needs to possess. This is done by a panel of experts meeting to set a required standard for the job. The experts meet and decide that a specific job requires a minimum set of requirements. The experts then set the job specifications before calling for applications for the job at hand. After the experts have set the specifications, they then analyze the job to distinguish between the required and desirable specifications for the job. The required job specifications refer to the characteristics of the job that are inflexible, meaning that the applicants must possess these characteristics. Conversely, the desirable job specifications refer to the characteristics of the applicant that put them a step above the rest, which are not mandatory but preferred. Once the job analysis is completed, they are then summarized in form of a job description, which provides the type of job to be done, t he qualifications needed from the applicant and the tasks that the worker is required to accomplish. As already stated, a job description is a description of the major job functions that an employee is supposed to undertake when working for a firm. A job description is used by management for several functions, the first function being to outline the tasks that an employee is supposed to perform (Managing Human Resources). This function is important since it informs an employee of the work expected to be done, which indicates whether an employee is qualified for the work. The second function of a job description is to describe the knowledge and critical skills that an employee is supposed to have in order to qualify for the job. As already stated, the requirements for a job are divided into two parts, the desirable and required job skills (Managing Human Resources). The job description

Religious Free
Religious Freedom Pre 1700s Essay America than in England. Of course this is just a brief explanation compared to the real essay. suggest you fill in the blanks with some support from wherever your source is. but for now i have to go write my own because its due tomorrow and its already very late. so good luck on the essay and hope this generally answered your question. Analyze the extent to which religious freedom existed in the British North America colonies prior to 1700. The New World was first established because many people in England did not agree with their religious and political ways of life. Most people in the northern colonieshad run from England due to having no religious freedom. The Puritans, Quakers, andvarious leaders created outbursts of reform to achieve freedom in New England. Each group had their own philosophy on how life should be lived. The Puritans were a group of English men who disagreed with how the Church of England was ran. The damned were allowed to sit with the saints, and the Puritans did not like this. The extreme Puritans were known as Separatists in England. Finally, these extreme Puritans left for the New World in 1620. The Puritans set up a way of government. It said, the whole purpose of government was to enforce Gods laws. Only the Puritans, the only ones eligible for church membership, could be freemen. The believers and nonbelievers had to pay taxes on the governmentââ¬âsupported church. Jews and Atheists were killed because they did not believe in the divinity of Jesus. Chaotic services were how the Quaker sermons went. He didnt hold back his comments and demanded very little. In the South most of the colonies were overwhelme d by the Protestants. They were offensive to the religious and political authorities. The Puritans banished her from the Bay Colony. Anne Hutchinson was another rebel who challenged the authority of the Puritan clergy. Roger Williams was a threat to the Puritan leaders. This included converted and non-converted New Englanders. After many generations, religion was not at the top of the Puritans list. The northern colonies had religious freedom, but the Puritans forced their own religion on everyone else around them. Maryland ultimately guaranteed toleration for all Christians. They set the stage for our religious freedom today. His followers were very liberal, and not accepted.

Characteristics of the Peruvian Culture
Characteristics of the Peruvian Culture Peru is a Spanish speaking country surrounded by beautiful geography and has a spectacular cultural contrast. The country houses over 23 million residents consisting of Spanish settlers, and the native Inca and among all other countries ranks 19th in population size (PeruFacts). Peru is a quite diverse because of its unique climate, natural characteristics and cultural variation. The native Indian and Spanish roots cultivate the modern Peruvian society, which today accommodates three languages ranging from Spanish, Native Quechua and Aymara. Most notable of all Peru posses a very distinctive culture because of the combination of the Peruvian social structure, family conquest, inter-cultural mixing and rapid changing legacys. The natural characteristics of this country have greatly impacted Peruvians by dividing the country in multiple regions, which caused many problems for development and interactivity of uniting one society. The Andean Sierra highland that was nearly twenty thousand feet high was natures main instrument in separating Peru into compound social orders. The highlands accompanied about half of Perus population. Since the pre-Columbian times Peru has been dramatically forced to become regionally diverse and has greatly impacted the equalities of labor and the living standards of Peruvians. As a result social standards such as health, education, law, and agricultural are said to be distributed erratically across The Peruvian culture is divided viciously by nature from Aboriginal Mountain residents to imposing imperial cites. The rural communities now express their values differently from traditional practices such as owning new technology and dressing more modern that is similar to American fashion standards. However, on the other spectrum, the natives such as the Andes are upholding their ancestral traditional practices although the world is changing. If you visited these people you will find that they still operate family fields and manage the land using their bare hands and sometimes have animals to harness more vigorous duties. Like most native cultures in the United States, Peruvian natives fundamentally organize their communities by work, marriage and land-ownership. Common examples of a Peruvian society that still functions as this particularly type of community are known as the ayllu, located in Quechua. Their main tradition is known to be work exchange in which services are rendered with obligatory repayment of equal kind such gift giving in America we expect a equal repayment. (Mosley, 1992) Today because of centuries of cultural mixing most Peruvians would fall into the category known as Mestizo American Indian or European. Social divisions are not so much racially defined but are culturally defined. The best example is that today to become a Mestizo you dont have to be born into the culture, you may become one by choice and uphold their beliefs and practices. The Misti, which is noted to be the most dominant social class in the Andes share their cultural traits and are able to participate in modern activities and education. However there are other groups that are ethno linguistic that do not take part in this practice and enforce strict native rule over modernization. Overall the majority of highland people live their lives from modern benefit so that they focus on maintaining loyalty to their ancestral heritage. I find that the bright homemade costumes of native Peruvian cultures are the most intriguing. Stepping away from traditional societies of Peru the middle class is the most difficult to characterize because of the integration of modernization and city life. The economy was the ultimate cause of growth with the Peruvian middle class because of the increase of entrepreneurship and public services. It was almost obligatory for native Peruvians to move from the highlands and work to provide their families with basic resources for survivability. We can almost identify how this has affected an abundance of cultures in world history including our own country, the United States. Today Peruvian development is thought to be grossly inadequate because it cannot sustain its inhabitants. The national economy has opened a large amount of traditional market daily street trade and bargaining with market vendors. There you can find a wide range of goods from agriculture to native crafts such a beautiful native clothing and art. Many tourists come to Peru because of trade markets and find that they are indulging in the unique heritage. Each and everyday Peru is consistently becoming more stable as a society by working together to increase the strength of their culture. Peru shares many cultural characteristics as other countries but stands out for its unique practices and enriching history. Through native societies to metropolitan areas Peru continues to demonstrate the importance for culture connectivity. Many tourists such as myself would consider their art and trade exceptionally diverse which personally gives a positive impression on their society. Similar to Hawaii, Peru strives to preserve their cultural legacies by dedicated particular parts the country to natives. The miscellaneous practices of Perus culture are something all countries should learn from so that future generations will understand how people became who they are today.

Middle Eastern History Essay -- essays research papers
1)à  Ã  Ã  Ã  Ã  Statecraft and the unity of state and religion The fact that three quarters of the Koran is focused on civil procedure makes us appreciate how important establishing the state was to Muhammad. He embedded in these procedures in the Koran because he wanted no separation between religion and state. For good reason, having no split between these two facets leaves no gray area of rule that conforms to one system and not the other. He did not want the loyalties of his people to clash between their faith and their government. This achievement originated through the Koranââ¬â¢s integration of scriptures and civil guidelines. 2)à  Ã  Ã  Ã  Ã   Absence of Clergy The absence of clergy within the Islamic faith is attributed to three causes. à §Ã  Ã  Ã  Ã  Ã  In the early days of Islam, Muhammad would preach in the holy city of Mecca. During this time, Mecca was filled with Christians, Jews, and Pagans. The Christian and Jewish clergymen would mock Muhammad day and night; they discouraged and embarrassed him with hopes to break his will. Its safe to assume that from the start, Muhammad has a negative feel towards clergyman. à §Ã  Ã  Ã  Ã  Ã  Islamic faith is the much more self-serving than any of the other major religions. You convert yourself, marry yourself, & pray yourself. Muhammad did not feel it was essential or even necessary to institute a higher authority in the place of worship. à §Ã  Ã  Ã  Ã  Ã  Before Muhammad become The Prophet, he was very established, and greatly successful as a businessman. And his business intellect led him to the conclusion that it would be a waste of funds to setup a higher authority in the mosques. After all if he were to succeed at spreading Islamic influence into the Persian and Arabian Empires, he would need all the funds he could get. à  Ã  Ã  Ã  Ã   3) Law Issues a.à  Ã  Ã  Ã  Ã  Legal procedures The Islamic judicial system has somewhat a resemblance to the American judicial system. The greatest similarity is the practice that a person is innocent until proven guilty. Another likeness is the practice of Habeas Corpus. This provides that no person shall be held against his or her will without being formally charged with a crime. However, a major difference in regards to legal procedure between our two cult... ...nbsp;à  Ã  Ã  Ã  Toleration of other religions and traditions Muhammad the statesman felt that it would have been ridiculous and unproductive to be abusive of other religions. After all, Muslim religion was built on Christian and Jewish faith. To attack the foundation, would be undermining the very faith of Islam. Because Islam is both a religion and a state, Muhammad felt it would be easier to run his state welcoming other religions. This principle allowed the great Muslim conquests into the Arabian and Persian territories to be so successful. If communities did not convert, they simply followed the credo of Islamic statehood and kept their religion. 9)à  Ã  Ã  Ã  Ã  Education Before Muhammad was a successful, lucrative businessman, he was a poor, illiterate orphan. In fact, when Muhammad first received revelations from Allah, he wasnââ¬â¢t educated enough to transcribe them on paper. Just as the absence of prejudice amongst genders and classes, the availability of high education to all is also a pillar in the Islam way of life. If you are of Muslim faith, the Koran states that it is a requirement to become educated.
The Western as Commentary about Decaying Values Essay -- Western Cultu
The Western as Commentary about Decaying Values The Western, as a genre, is subversive of the values that its Christian characters possess. Western films frequently depict social depravity in terms of the mythology that developed during westward expansion. The mythology was inspired by the threat of the frontier wilderness to Puritan culture. In order to preserve their society, some Puritans departed from their ideal Christian lives. Western films portray compromises that cultures make of the values that they define themselves by in order to protect the integrity of their other values. A contemporary Western, Open Range, which Kevin Costner stars in and directed, released in 1995, deals with a conflict between morality and justice and the genre mythology. In it, Boss Spearman and Charley Waite herd cattle across the Western frontier. When they allow the herd to free-graze in Fort Harmon country, they infuriate a prominent rancher, Baxter, who tells them ââ¬Å"Free-grazers ainââ¬â¢t gonna take the feed off my cattle.â⬠ A confrontation with Baxterââ¬â¢s henchmen results in them killing one of Bossââ¬â¢ helpers and another, Button, is severely hurt. Boss and Charley are faced with the options either to run away, in which case Button would die, or to risk their lives by entering the town to find him a doctor. Boss and Charley both are generous to each other, their workers, and people they encounter. Charley is a former Civil War fighter who is trying to escape his past with the guidance of the old, collected cowboy, Boss. Both have clearly been in fights before; however, Charleyââ¬â¢s past troubles him in a deeper way than his demeanor suggests. He explains that he first shot a man in the throat ... ...fe from the dangers of their enemies and feel that they have the freedom of pioneers. Even as the wilderness and the frontier become more distant, the mythology that arose in the American west keeps its people inexorably determined to maintain the democracy and the freedom that it provides. What Purpose does Section one serve in a Reading of To Kill a Mockingbird? :: English Literature
What Purpose does Section one serve in a Reading of To Kill a Mockingbird? Section 1 of the novel 'To Kill a Mockingbird', by Harper Lee establishes the main style and themes of the narrative. It begins by giving a brief summary of the history of the Finch family before setting the scene for the main action of the novel. It introduces the reader to the main characters who will, Scout, Jem, Atticus and Miss Maudie and some of the families who are relevant to the story, the Radleys and the Ewells. Some of the themes of the book become apparent in the first section and are then continued and elaborated on in the second half. Questions are also raised that arouse the reader's interest and encourage them to read on. From the first page it becomes apparent to the reader the book is written in first person tense, but it is several pages before the reader is informed that the story is to be related by a six year-old girl. The protagonist of the novel is Scout, a proud, headstrong girl who claims that she 'Never loved to read. One does not love breathing'. The story begins by her commenting on events that do not become clear until the end of the novel. She says 'I maintain that the Ewells started it all' but she does not explain what they started and the reader only discovers what she means as more of the story is revealed. This catches the attention of the reader, as their curiosity is aroused and they want to know what she is talking about. The writer then goes on to write a short history of the Finch family and a description of each of the characters immediately involved in the story; Atticus, Calpurnia and Dill. This provides a background to the events that are yet to happen and gets the reader to wish to know more about these people. The reader then becomes acquainted with their characters, attitudes and opinions and this provides the reader with some knowledge of how they will react to the events that happen in the second part of the novel. The first chapter also describes the events relating to the Radley family. It is a bit of a myth made from rumours that have been passed on from person to person until it the stories become completely unbelievable. This is humorous because the reader can see through Scout's eyes and although these things are completely ridiculous they can see that believes them. These events are not concluded and the reader can see that there will be more about this family in the second

What Is One Business Solution To Poverty That You Think Could Improve Development Outcomes?
I believe opportunities exist for companies to reach low income consumers in developing countries with goods that meet their specific needs. Doing so would imply overcoming certain challenges, but would also yield significant benefits both for consumer goods companies and for the poor. In terms of demand, this opportunity appears to be promising. As the figure above shows1, 55% of todayââ¬â¢s world population belong to the so called top of the pyramid (TOP) and live on more than $8 a day; 8% belong to the bottom of the pyramid (BOP) and live on less than $2 a day; and 37% belong to the middle of the pyramid (also called deep in the pyramid or DIP) and live on $2-$8 a day. The data shows that, for the period 2009-2020, annual growth for TOP consumers is expected to be +4% whilst growth for DIP and BOP consumers is expected to be -3%.This means that the worldââ¬â¢s population living on a daily income above $8 is expected to rise from 55% in 2011 to 66% by 2020 as millions of DIP c onsumers move up the economic ladder thanks to economic growth. DIP consumers, therefore, have exceptional potential to boost consumer goods consumption growth in developing markets. Despite a positive demand outlook, the potential in the DIP market remains to be fully realized. There are two main challenges that companies need to overcome. First, determining the right price point and creating products to meet that price. This can be solved through innovation in products and packages, with price point driving product development. Here, reducing package sizes and developing more basic packaging while ensuring quality, convenience and value is key to success. Second, ensuring product availability through appropriate distribution. Traditional trade is probably the biggest challenge as companies are used to dealing with structured supermarkets. Reaching every corner store with its own approach to stock keeping, credit and retailing in countries with underdeveloped infrastructure can be v ery tricky. In some cases, companies may need to consider developing production facilities close to market in order to reduce distribution costs. In short, a different approach to risk, investment and organization is needed to meet the challenges of price point and distribution. But benefits can also be substantial for companies and for the poor. Letââ¬â¢s take dairy products as an example. On one hand, dairy brands can earn significant profits selling high volumes to the DIP market and building brand awareness in the minds of future TOP consumers. On the other hand, access to healthier and safer food would increase for the poor and their children in developing countries, improving nutrition levels. Moreover, local employment would also increase if dairy companies decide to produce locally in order to save distribution costs. Finally, the traditional distribution channel would be strengthened creating a healthy counterbalance to powerful supermarkets and retailers. It remains to be seen whether companies can successfully overcome the aforementioned challenges and positively impact local communities through share value creation.
Vygotskys Social Development Theory Education Essay
The following attack examined was phratry administration, as students were grouped by cogency. The red-faced group reflected higher ability, this included fry X, Yellow , in- amid ability and chiliad , lower ability. All were taught stuff with standardised academic content but at a gait and deepness that reflected the vary abilities. This distinction altogetherowed to react to the cognitive battle of where the pupil was, to where the pupil ask to be, a construct which chiefly derived from Vygotsky s accessible Development Theory ( Vygotsky 1962, citied in Daniels, 2005 p127 ) . To deposit this theory in teach context, the instructor would try to embrace the spread between the baby s current microscope st senesce of accomplishment and comparison against the teachingal dissolving agent when supported by an grownup. For illustration, during a phonics session, the park group were given a confinement relate to the ch sound, whereas nipper X and the florid group were given this, in acc show uprement to the ture sound. An article by Jessica Shepa rd, ( The protector online, 2012 ) even suggested that this signifier of grouping exacerbates unfairnesss with Kate Aspin from the TES Online cartridge h superannuateder ( 2010 ) in like manner adding that efficaciously seting distinction into digit may be one of the great challenges in the NQT twelvemonth. For illustration, with the phonics undertaking, Child X had completed her activity, she sat with the EAL electric shaver and explained the undertaking utilizing her personal methods. She made legitimate her spouse was remaining on-task, enjoyed to a greater extent duties and the EAL kid was bettering academically. This pattern is s upported by means of rosaceous ( 2010, p257 ) , who suggested it was good to redistribute accomplishments and abilities and partner hit high-performing students with those fighting in category. Associating back to Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs ( 1970 ) , every pungency good as physiological, safety and self-confidence demands, societal demands had to be met. This method allowed kids to do friends and improved societal accomplishments, which argon unconditional before self-actualization can be achieved. evidence besides suggests that vulnerable kids and benefit just about from engagement ( Farrell, 2000 ) . Hence in this context, the chance to be a equal whizz besides allowed to advance inclusion. Child X was excited to non only if vie against other schools, but besides had friends within them. This strategy initiated several characteristics that are straight linked to positive kid development. These included, regular engagement agendas, accent on accomplishment development, and engagement in pregnant interaction.Eccles and Gootman ( 2002 ) besides found that through local school community enterprises, kids learn how to interrogation and act upon in the universe environing them. This suggested that educate A s after school plans possessed the powe r to advance popular wellness and health of kids by maintaining them active, then furnishing distinguishable chances for growing and development. These enterprises besides encouraged parental engagement and continually invited parents to go to. When questioning with Child X as to whether her parents of all time visited, she supply that her parents and many other parents neer got mingled as they tended to be busy . adept set of barriers to rear engagement related to logistical restraints of clip, money, conveyance or kid attention. But it has besides been found that because parents in lower-socioeconomic households frequently have fewer old ages of instruction themselves and potentially harbour more negative experiences with schools ( Lareau and Horvat, 1999 ) .An component that School A should so hold considered, was that research has systematically shown that parental engagement in kids s instruction makes a positive contravention to pupils accomplishment. Parental engagem ent with kids from an early age has been found to compare with better results in footings of cognitive development and societal development more than parental business, instruction or income ( Sylva et al 2004 ) .Therefore, peculiarly for School A, plans and policies designed to advance parental school engagement in deprived communities in the hereafter may turn out effectual in supplying a sense of coaction for the kid. However, being bleak to each community s wholly barriers and resources is besides of import for set uping and keeping effectual coactions between the single kid, their households and schools. In drumhead, the finest developmental surroundings for a kid consists of academic sweetening, infused with chances for physical, cognitive, societal, and emotional growing. Schools and universities are even segregated mostly in Muslim states, therefore there is no communication among girls and boys as school is the main source of communication among youth. What does Islam say about men and women interaction? The al-Quran (holy book of the Muslims) defines important and necessary elements of all the exist relationships between all the concourse. It includes respect, tolerance, kindness, self-restraint, honesty, patience, compassion and for attachedess. (Sardar, 2007)Sex segregation in different Muslim communities- It varies throughout in different Muslim communities. In some communities its strict and harsh as compared to others where it is a bit practicable and understandable. permits take a look in some of the communities and how this issue is dealt there. Afghanistan Due to Talibans leadership in Afghanistan there is a very strict sex segregated system that does not allow women and men to contact in public at all and women even do not enjoy equal opportunities of education or employment.Iran In Iran Ruhollah Khomeini only favors single- sex schools and strictly discourages women teaching in boys school and men teaching in girls school. Also public places like cafes, restaurants, schools, libraries, swimming pools, beaches, shopping malls and sport halls are also legally segregated. It was ordered and announced that all the business halls, marriage halls, po litical oppositions and even conference halls should consist of separate scratchs. There are few busses that have separate section for women and men are not even allowed to stand beside them. Saudi Arabia In Saudi Arab sex segregation is even seen in hospitals and health care centers.A fe antheral patient is not permissible to be tough by a male doctor unless there is no other female doctor open similarly it is also not permissible for a female doctor to treat a male patient. A woman is not allowed to meet any other guy unveiled exc ept for her spouse. A woman is also forbidden to eat in public as this would expose her face plot of ground she is eating as this considered immodest therefore all restaurants in Saudi Arabia has a special section for women to conceal them from men. Women are not even allowed to bugger off or even get out of their house without their husband or son.Indonesia Indonesia is a country with the highest Muslim population. Sex segregation is not so harsh as compared to other Muslim communities. Hijab is considered an important part of the dress among women in Indonesia but if not purposeless does not punish them. Women are seen working in Indonesia a lot and men and women social contact is allowed to some extent in the country. Physical contact is however not permissible but people in Indonesia do practice handshaking and its not considered wrong there. Coughlin, 2006) Guidelines for appropriate behavior resulting in rose-cheeked men and women public contact- In some Muslim cultures s anitary relationships are not forbidden at all and this is what the religion does not even consider wrong. Therefore appropriate behavior that does not lead to temptation or physical attractiveness should be adopted. In order to keep abreast healthy relationships between the two sexes, following travel are taken in some practical cultures Treating one another with respect in all conditionsThis recommendation is even made by the religion itself. Respectful behavior is one factor that allows both the gender to maintain social contact or interact with each other in a modest and a pure manner. Behaving modestly Maintaining healthy relationships also involve behaving modestly with one another. It means to avoid provocative behavior such as physical contact, flirtation or harassment. Avoiding privacy Seclusion is the situation when men and women are alone in an isolated place. This is not considered right in a Muslim culture as the chance of enliven is apparent when two people who are attracted to each other are alone in some place. Therefore in order to avoid such temptation it is much better to avoid situations of seclusion so that healthy relationship cant be maintained between both the sexes get dressed modestly Dress is one factor that arouses interest and attention of the opposite sex therefore when meeting an opposite sex always dress properly and modestly so that it does not lead to any bad thought in other persons mind and does not ruin the healthy relation that exists. Conclusion The freedom to which the men and women communicate publicly in Muslim communities varies from community to community. In some states as stated below no communication exists between the sexes where as in others it is a bit lenient. However if we see in worldwide Islam, the religion that Muslims follows only restricts such interactions among the Muslim men and women that lead to any physical contact or immodest behavior or it opposes men and women meeting alone in an isolated p lace for no productive purpose.
